Although the history of ERLER GROUP started back in 1992 with the establishment of a fabric trading business named ‘ERLER’, the whole story dates back to the 1970s when Galip Karataş first started working as a shop assistant in Sultanhamam district, İstanbul. His first encounter with fine fabrics dates back to those years. In Istanbul during 70s, a textile industry consisting of yarn and fabric sectors was already present, however, a ready-to-wear clothing sector had not yet been developed! This acquaintance, which will then become a value that would pass down to younger generations through getting to grips with trade and retail, takes a different course when Galip Karataş comes to Osmanbey in 1979 and opens a manufactory store in Matbaacı Osman Bey Street.

In accordance with the changing conditions in the sector and its developing needs, ERLER was established as a family business in 1992. It was founded by Galip Karataş, İlker Karataş and Tuncer Özvar in Osmanbey and launched its commercial activities by importing fabrics and wholesale in the domestic market.

In 1995, a second store was opened as a retail store in Baghdad Street in order to appeal to the end consumer. The Caddebostan Branch brought together the finest fabrics that reflect a global fashion view in tandem with the market in Europe and it therefore became a popular destination amongst famous designers and fashion houses in a short span of time.

In 1997, another company that belongs to the group, ARYATEKS, was launched. The company has been committed to strengthen its bounds with the domestic market through keeping close contact with local fabric manufacturers. Although it later enriches its product range with imported products and widen its borders, the strong ties with the domestic market established by the company are still preserved up to the present day.

In 2005, a third company, RIKKA, was established. RIKKA centred itself upon printed fabrics and digital printing upon which the other companies have not directly focused despite ever-growing demand in the fashion industry. In 2011, the company initiated its digital printing system under its own roof.

Hence, the journey, which ERLER gave a start in the 90s by way of fabric import and wholesale, evolved into forming a group that consists of various companies in the 2000s.

Local fabrics and digital prints that the newly established companies add into their wide range of products rendered ERLER GROUP to become one of the major suppliers in the ready-to-wear industry.

In 2007, ERLER was restructured and received the following title, Erler Textile Industry and Commerce CO. ERLER then became more dynamic with its restructured organizational chart and paved the way for other companies to adapt themselves into this new structure, thus accelerating its business with the endevour of establishing a more institutionalised structure and total quality management.

In 2014, Aryateks also became a joint stock company. In the same year, the group's social responsibility initiative, ‘Galip Karataş Education, Culture and Solidarity Foundation’, was launched.

In 2017, The Caddebostan Branch has also moved its main store to Osmanbey under the name of GALIP Textile and started to engage in wholesale. Two years later the retail store on Baghdad Street was moved to Umraniye district due to urban transformation.

Today, while Erler Group appears as a family business and is loyal to that aspect of its identity, especially in terms of the sincerity and reliability of its employees under its roof; it gives utmost importance to taking a professional approach, which continuously prioritizes institutionalization, supports creativity and is open to new business ideas when it comes to the future of the group.
